Dankern Castle in Harenis located next to the picturesque Lake Dankern (Dankernsee).This castle is included in the list of the most visited medieval castles in Germany. Therewere various buildings on this site even in the IX century. The currentbuilding is more than 500 years old. It is a Renaissance palace with slopingroofs and richly decorated ivied facade. It is surrounded by a ditch and a forest park. There is abeautiful cast-iron gate preserved, to which a wooden bridge is leading. Thecastle can be explored also from inside.

Many travelers, being here, combine business with pleasure – a castle tourand a visit to the children's amusement park (Freizeitpark). There is all thatone can wish for in the park: an opportunity to ride a horse, jump on thetrampoline, play hockey, billiards, practice figure-skating, and many otheractivities for children of all ages. There is a playground for carting andamusement. The water park offers surf and scuba-diving. You can not only have fun,but also stay overnight in the territory of the park. Part of the castle’spremises are used as a hotel.
