The Church of St. Nicholas is one ofthe oldest constructions in Reutlingen. This temple in the Romanesque style wasbuilt in 1358, ten years after the end of the terrible epidemic of bubonicplague that raged in Europe. In 1726, the church miraculously survived the mostdevastating fire in the history of Reutlingen.
Until 1823 Nikolaikirche replaced the main cathedralof the city destroyed by the fire, St. Mary’s Church, for parishioners. Today, inthe church you should pay attention to the amazing bas-reliefs by Germansculptor Ulrich Henn, colorful stained glass windows, as well as look at the recentlyopened cafe at the church (in the former apse of the church), called CafeNikolai. It serves wonderful sweets with coffee.
