The first church dedicated to theHoly Trinity appeared in Kaub in the XII century. It was attached to the27-meter five-storey tower, which was part of the medieval city fortifications.Since 1560 the parish was opened solely for Protestants, but in 1687 both Catholicand Protestant services began here.
In theXVIII century, the unique temple was expanded: the builders laid the chancelarch and the church was literally divided into the Protestant part dedicated tothe Holy Trinity and the Catholic part dedicated to St. Nicholas. The belltower was restored in the late Rococo style. The church has a copy of one ofthe most valuable religious relics of the Middle Rhine - the wooden statue ofthe Kaub Madonna (Cauber Madonna, XV c.). The original is kept in the FridericianumMuseum (Museum Fridericianum) in Kassel.
