The Church of St. Dionysius is a notable building in Krefeld. The temple was built in 1754 in the Baroque style. In 1768 a 78m-high bell tower was added to it, which still dominates the old town. The church was named in honor of St. Dionysius of Paris, which is depicted on the emblem of Krefeld.
In the nineteenth century, it also acquired features of classicism, especially in the interior. 20 Ionic columns of beautiful yellow marble appeared there. At the end of the same century the church was built over so that it could be seen from anywhere in the city. The church is open to visitors any day, where you can listen to the organ installed in 2007 by Klais.
