Snow-white Renaissance castle Bad Rappenau with redtile roofs and round towers was erected in 1600. It was ordered and owned by anoble knight family of Gemmingen. During four centuries Bad Rappenau castle wasseveral times reconstructed, expanded but did not change its owners. Thiscontinued until 1956 when the castle was bought by the town authorities thatset up a spa in it.

From 1980 to2001 the town council had its sessions in Bad Rappenau castle. When the newtown hall was constructed on the Market place, the mayor’s office moved, whilethe castle began to host temporary exhibitions, cultural events andconferences.
