The specialized museum knives in the City of Blades is worth a visit. It was established in 1954. At first it was a collection at Solingen’s Higher School of Metalwork. But it quickly became clear that the knives and utensils can be of interest not only to students. As a result, the Blades Museum appeared in a former convent.
Now the Blades Museum includes three thematic exhibitions- cutting tools, cold steel and cutlery exhibitions. The edged weapons collection has the most ancient and valuable artifacts. Here you can trace the evolution of arms, from the Bronze Age to the present day. In addition to the production of medieval craftsmen, the collection also includes modern products, which are sometimes, by the way, more valuable than the ancient artifacts. So, in 2007 the museum got a knife as a gift, which is considered the most expensive in the world. This cutting tool is generously encrusted with diamonds and its handle is made of white gold!
