Bismarck Tower is a 26m-high tower in the form of a truncated cone - one of more than 50 designs, built in Germany in honor of the Iron Chancellor. Opening 10 years after Bismarck’s death, it was first used as a paid observation deck and a room for special occasions. In wartime anti-aircraft guns were placed here, and until 1956 it was used by the British army as a transmitting station. In 1970 the tower was almost torn down, but the locals defended it and it was re-opened as an observation deck. It works from March 1 to October 31.
