For those whose relatives moved from Hamburg to theUSA, Canada, Australia in the middle of the XIX - early XX centuries for a permanentstay, BallinStadt Museum is an opportunity to know the way how they left thecontinent. The museum has a computer database providing information on the emigrationdestination and date upon entry of people’s data, as well as information abouthow they settled in their new places of residence. The museum is organized onthe place of a defunct town built by the owner of a local shipping company,Albert Bellini, for immigrants waiting for the departure of their ships.
BallinStadt Museumcontains stories about people, about who they are and why they decided to emigrate.Mannequins tell the stories on special phones. The exhibition also includes recreatedsuitcases of those departing and their letters to homeland. The museum has acinema room in the form of a ship, where you can watch "TheImmigrant" with Charlie Chaplin starring in it.
