Bad Wörishofen is the main Bavarian spa resort located 38 km east of Memmingen. The most famous resident of the town Sebastian Kneipp was born here in 1821. He was a weaver, then a priest, he cured himself from tuberculosis and became famous throughout Europe for his health improvement system, consisting of hydrotherapy, phytotherapy, exercise, diet and maintaining inner harmony. Kneipp museum is opened in the local Dominican monastery. Thousands of the afflicted came to Wörishofen even in Kneipp’s lifetime. And now the town is visited by almost 100 thousand visitors annually.
Treatment according to Kneipp’s method is recognized effective in case of cardiovascular, rheumatic diseases, sleep disturbances, nervous disorders, allergies, respiratory tract infections, osteoporosis and others. The town has spa gardens: tracks with various natural coatings to walk barefoot, an aroma-garden with 250 flowering plants, several gardens with healing herbs and a rose garden. A spa center Therme Bad Wörishofen is located 2 km from the center of town. There is everything for health improvement: mineral pools, steam and color therapy cameras, saunas, solariums, infra-red lounge chairs. Europe's largest glass sliding roof is built above the pool, which opens in the summer.
