Böttcherstrasse perhaps is the most famous and at the same time the shortest street in Bremen. Its length is a little more than 100 meters. It is located near the Marktplatz – the main square of the city. Until 1922 it was an unremarkable street. However, Bremen’s coffee merchant Ludwig Roselius allocated funds for its reconstruction. Rozelius and the architect Bernhard Hёtger embodied in buildings on Betthershtrasse concept of Brick Expressionism. All the houses on the street - there are only 7 – are individual, colorful buildings, which are fancifully decorated.
