The Augustinian Museum of Freiburg is located in a former Augustinian monastery. It exhibits a collection of art works, mostly related to the Middle Ages.
Here you can see sculptures, paintings, prints, tapestries, furniture and jewelry items of the Middle Ages. Many of the exhibits are taken from the Freiburg Münster. For example, the museum hall with statues of prophets is completely taken from Freiburg Main Cathedral. Another attraction is the medieval organ brought from Gengenbach Abbey. The museum boasts a collection of medieval tapestries and paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder. In its scope, the collection of Freiburg Augustinian Museum is the biggest in southern Baden and one of the largest in the whole Rhine.
