Museum of Artificial Crystals — Alexandrov Treasury

The Museum of Artificial Crystals is a unique collection of synthetic crystals that are grown all over the world only in Alexandrov. The exposition of the museum was formed in the 1960s from the collection of artificial crystals collected by the Institute staff for a long time, and later it was supplemented with locally produced stones.

The Museum of Artificial Crystals exhibits not only artificial analogues of semi-precious stones of all shapes and colors: synthetic amethysts, garnets and rock crystal, but also real natural stones: coral, nephrite, beryl, marble and jasper. Visitors can see the equipment on which the crystals are made. Both real and synthetic crystals are successfully used in jewelry. The exposition clearly demonstrates the stone working procedure prior to decorating rings or earrings. In the museum store you can buy such items of local production as, for example, citrine beads.
