The first monument to Lenin was installed in Sevastopol in 1932, but during the Second World War German troops sent him to a remelting. In 1957 one of the highest monuments to Lenin in the USSR appeared in the city. The Monument made by the sculptor Bondarenko was installed on the Central Hill in the park in front of the Cathedral of St. Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles. One can approach the monument by going up from Nakhimov Avenue along the famous Sinop staircase.
A seven-meter bronze statue of Lenin was erected on a 13-meter pedestal. Thanks to this the figure of the leader is visible even from the sea. Bronze figures on four sides at the foot of the monument - worker, peasant, sailor and soldier are the main characters of the October Revolution of 1917.
