Stadthaus exhibition center is theembodiment of contemporary architectural mind. The building stands on theMunster Square (Münsterplatz), near the city's main symbol - Ulm Cathedral ofthe XIV century. The square’s design was the subject of heated debate for 105years. 17 competitions were held, and in 1986 the city finally chose the designof the New York-based architect Richard Meier. Meier designed not only the Stadthaus, but also its surroundings.
For the past 30 years the Stadthaus has been opening its doors for experimental work in the field of contemporary art, photography, architecture and ecology. It also hosts concerts and contemporary dance parties.
