St. Jodokus Church used to be a Franciscan monastery. It was established in 1511 in honour of a hermit called Jodokus who lived in the 7th century. Today it is a Roman Catholic church with the oldest statue of Bielefeld “Black Madonna”. It was created in 1220. Besides, you can also see wonderful stain-glass windows in the church, as well as a wooden sculpture of Jodokus dating back to 1480 and iconostasis by Alexey Savelyev dating back to 1962. Late gothic interior and exterior of the church are defined by famous simplicity professed by Franciscans. There are 4 bronze bells mantled on the roof.
