The death and attitude towards it, the rituals of sepulchral culture, ideas about afterlife are the main topics of the Museum of Sepulchral Culture. The exposition contains subjects relating to the traditions of burial in different countries at different times (coffins, funeral clothes, samples of gravestones, urns), finds from cemeteries, books and articles about the death, burial, mourning and the other world. The collection of sculptures, photographs, prints and paintings – total of 16,500 exhibits from the Middle Ages to the XXI century - illustrates the evolution of funeral traditions and mourning ritual. The museum has two collections: one is devoted to the death and the funeral in general, the other – to the German cemeteries. The museum offers midnight tours to visitors to have a full palette of feelings.
