Marzipan Warehouse and Museum-– Lubeck’s New Gold
Marzipan inGerman means "March bread." Marzipan has recently come to replace saltand grains that were once stored in the warehouses of Lubeck. Marzipan is Lubeck’snew gold, its top seller on par with Rotspon (perfectly seasoned red wine) andthe Christmas market in December, which also became a brand. By the way, marzipanis in great demand at Christmas, as evidenced by the turmoil around the stalls branded"March bread".
The Marzipan Museum is near the Trave river. The admissionis free. The exhibition includes a variety of subjects and figures frommarzipan; the best examples of small forms (marzipan sweets and specialsouvenirs) are collected here. And, of course, its ingredients are thoroughlydescribed, almonds being the most important of them.
Hardly anyone can leave Lubeck without buying anything.In addition, there is a café, where you can drink a cup of strong coffee andtry whatever you wish.
