Luisenpark was built inthe late XIX century on the initiative of Dr. Karl Wilhelm Casimir Fox. Thepark is named in honor of Princess Louise of Prussia, who was married to GrandDuke Friedrich of Baden. In the mid 60-ies of the XX century, the park territorywas expanded and entrance fee was canceled. Now people come here to see theanimals and birds, ride on boats and catamarans on the artificial lake.
The special pride of the park is the Chinese garden with a tea house financedby the support of Chinkiang City Hall -the Chinese twin city of Mannheim. However,the TV Tower is the main attraction of Luisenpark. It was built in 1974 with aheight of 212 meters. Its observation deck offers spectacular views of the"City of Squares" and its surroundings. Here, at the top, there is arestaurant with exquisite cuisine.
