The GRIMM WORLD keeps evidences of the storytellers’ life in Kassel, where they had been working in the library for many years. The brothers became renowned not only for the processing of folk tales, but also for the linguistic works, the editions of which are exhibited in the museum.
The core of the exhibition is a fairytale activity of Jacob and Wilhelm. Here you can see a working copy of the "Children’s and Household Tales" of the early XIX century, with the authors’ notes, various manuscripts and editions of their books, as well as personal belongings. The museum also presents installations concerning the creations of the Brothers Grimm. For example, the vast "colored roots" by Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei, an artificial forest of thorns, where you can hide like many heroes of fairy tales, and slideshows with articles from the dictionary prepared by these linguists.
