The castle of Blankenheim was innovative for its time: in 1469 a unique for the Medieval Ages plumbing system appeared in it. Water was brought from the spring that was separated from the castle by a valley and a mountain. Subsequently, the 12th century knight castle underwent several transformations. In the 17th century it was decorated with elements of baroque, a garden with a conservatory was laid out around it, and a menagerie was set up.

And they only remembered about the plumbing system 20 years ago, when it was found during the renovation. Today it is possible to stay overnight in the castle, as there is a youth hostel there. th elements of baroque, a garden with a conservatory was laid out around it, and a menagerie was set up.
