Adam and Eve House, built in 1571 at the order of grain merchant Moller, is one of the most beautiful and unusual half-timbered houses in Höxter of the Weser Renaissance period. The size and design of the house facade indicate the financial health of the orderer.
The house got its name because of the image of Adam and Eve under the Tree of Paradise in one of the corners of the building. There are other biblical scenes on its facade, including the scene of the crucifixion of Christ. This distinguishes the house from the other half-timbered buildings of the city, which are decorated only with quotations from the Bible, but not by paintings.
